About 6 months ago (it may have actually been over a year ago, I don't remember) Logan started wanting to sleep in our bed instead of in his. When he would come and get in our bed in the middle of the night we he would toss and turn and kick. This was not going to work!!!
I had to come up with something. My friend Jenny told me about this great plan as we were standing in the produce department at the grocery store, that was how desperate I was:) Anyway, she suggested having Logan sleep in his bed for x amount of nights and then he could sleep anyway he wanted for one night. Well, that has been a success for us and lots of fun for Logan. He has slept in a tent, on his floor in a sleeping bag, on our floor, in our bed, but his favorite is when we turn his bed into a "couch." He has bunk beds and the bottom part is like a futon. We keep a normal mattress on it so it is more comfortable on a nightly basis. But when he earns his reward night we take the mattress off our sofa sleeper and turn his bed into a couch. He thinks it is great and we are never stuck with a little one in our bed. :)

Here he is last night.
The best part was that he didn't get up this morning until 7, wow!!! He is normally wide awake and running by 6, 6:30 at the latest. So it was a great treat!
Just in case you want to know how I do it:
I keep track of his nights on a laminated incentive chart (leftover from my teaching days).
I also keep track of his chores there also. Each chart lasts for 14 days. He earns $3 for completing all of his chores also, but he really doesn't care about the money, only where he gets to sleep on the reward night.
His chores are broken down to the 3 times of the day. In the morning he has to put away his breakfast dishes, brush is teeth, and throw his dirty clothes down the laundry shoot. After lunch he has to put up his dishes, brush his teeth, and clean up his toys before nap. And after dinner is the same, dishes, teeth, toys and laundry. He gets for a check each task so that becomes lots of checks during the day, which can be kind of annoying but okay. It helps him but it really helps me hold him accountable for all of his chores.
What do you at your house???
