The dish delima

This is what my kitchen sink looks like right now.
Brian and I do a pretty good job "sharing" the chores around our house or so I thought ;) The other night Brian's family came over for dinner. I was working but when I came home there was a LARGE stack of dishes waiting for me because the dishwasher was clean and Brian doesn't unload the dishwasher.
When it comes to dishes I tend to always unload and Brian reloads the dishwasher. Sounds pretty fair in theory. Here is the problem, I am gone working and oh no there are clean dishes that need to be unloaded, would it be really hard for Brian to unload it real quick and reload?? I guess so because that was 2 nights ago. I started to think after I unloaded the dishwasher yesterday (because I didn't get home until 10:30 Tuesday night) and started to reload that it just wasn't right. Every time I use a dish I place it in the dishwasher. Brian really only has to load dishes that accumulate while the dishwasher is running and he does our dinner dishes, which is really wonderful don't get me wrong!!! I am just asking that when I am away and the dishwasher needs to be unloaded that he would do it.
So I am trying to show him how much I really do. He told me it is my job to unload and his to load. I just wanted him to see what it is like to be the only one to do something. So I am not loading any dishes until he understands. :)
He was going to load it last night but we feel asleep. So he will have to do it tonight. It gives me a break today with the dishes, I don't have any to unload:)
I have a really wonderful husband that does lots around the house. I am very thankful for how great he is. I just want him to be willing to do something beyond his set chores once and awhile!!! :)

Is this too much to ask for? What do you think? What happens at your house?
What are your thoughts??

Makes complete sense to me! We are the opposite....Ed is supposed to unload, and I load. I get angry when there are dishes sitting on the counter, and he doesn't unload for 2 days! I try to make a point, but eventually I end up unloading, because I can't stand a messy kitchen! The strange thing, is that he is the cook. It doesn't bother him to work around a mess when cooking. UGH! I didn't even eat breakfast today until 10:30 because I had to clean up before I could make food!

That's the whole deal, I always give in and do it. I HATE a messy kitchen also and I don't like to cook that way. While cooking I directly put dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I just always do things here to make it easier but I need to prove a point and I think Brian gets it. I just want him to do something when it needs to be done, not wait for me to come home and do it. Rebecca, I am so glad you agree :)
